Being in Australia we will be getting the Newton Mv2 any day this week. I am already a Newton user and have been looking forward to this shoe. Anyway, what is everyone’s thoughts on this shoe. I know that the shoe fits fairly narrow and short but how does it fit someone with a wide foot How long are they expected to last aswell.
Any thoughts or opinions will be helpful.
I’ve been using the Distance & Gravity models in a Mens US 11.5. Both fit just fine.
I bought the MV2 in a Mens US 12 based upon the recommendation of the Newton customer service rep that I spoke with on the phone. The length was fine, but they were too narrow. (And I wouldn’t classify myself as having a wide foot.) Also, the new generation of their footfoot technology (I forget what they call it) that is used in the MV2 is MUCH more firm than the original version used in previous Newton shoes, as well as being positioned a bit further back on the sole of the shoe. These changes were not comfortable for me, personally, so I sent them back and got another pair of Distance.
I will say that the MV2 were really light and the interior seemed more conducive to sockless use than either the Distance or Gravity. I never did test that, though, since I’m a sock guy.
Go a half size up. I’ve only raced under 15k on them so it would be a personal thing but I’d say 1/2 marathon and under. Yes a different feel from the trainers but worth a look for sure. my 1st run was a road 5k and I was more than pleased with their weight which aided a quicker turnover for me. Try them, but1/2 size up for sure
