I just purchased a rear wheel with a campy free hub. Is it possible for me to put a campy cassette on it and will it work with my shimano ultegra rear derailleur? I am trying to find whats the cheapest route to make it work for my bike besides replacing the hub. The wheel is an 07/08 Hed Jet 60
Also if I have to replace the hub with a shimano hub from HED, whats a typical cost for replacement at an LBS?
you can’t use a shimano D with a campy cassette. The hub probably runs $50 and the change out probably $50. You probably should have just bought a wheel with the shimano compatibility
I just did the same thing. I bought a pair of FSA RD488 wheels with campy freehubs and had the lbs convert them to shimano by ordering a freehub directly from FSA and installing it. I got a good deal on the wheelset ($400 with tuvo tubulars) that it was worth the $100 to have them converted. Your lbs should be able to order a shimano freehub directly from hed and do the conversion.
