This seems like it should be obvious, but I can’t figure it out…
I just got a Powertap SL+, and the cadence is being displayed in the middle display, which by all manual accounts, should be displaying speed. I just can’t get my powertap headset to display speed…!! any ideas?
edit: The “C” is always blinking at the buttom btw. According to manuals, when the “C” is displayed, the cadence should be showing up on the multi-function display, but it my case it never shows up there, it only shows up in the middle display.
The blinking C means cadence will be displayed in the middle line, as you noticed. I do not know the process to get it off of that, but it is clearly stated in the manual, which can be found at http://www.saris.com if you do not have a hard copy or PDF. I believe it is menu 3 that has this setting for the center line. You can set the center line to also display HR too, but speed is the typical option people prefer (including myself).
I dont know about the wireless version, I have the older wired version and on my computer you go into setup menu 4 and the first thing that comes up is the option to display speed, cadence or heart rate as the middle display.
Give Saris a call. They are very responsive and can fix your problem over the phone. It will probably take them two minutes to help you out. I’ve had nothing but great results with their customer service.
