Currently run in Gel Kayano and DS trainers for races. Thinking of making the switch over to the new Zoot line. Anyone have experience with them? Thoughts?
you can definitely switch out to a zoot stability model in place of your DS trainer but i’m not really thinking that any of the zoot shoes parallel the features, cushioning and stability of the Kayano. If you are a smaller build then you might try the zoot to train in but if you’re on the larger side I’d say stick with the Asics. The zoot shoes are very nice but they are geared towards a slightly smaller range of athletes in terms of biomechanics correction and cushioning needs. zoot steers more towards performance nuetral shoes for the mid-range build and down. the Kayano (assuming that you need all of it’s support) is usually more towards the bit heavier or harder hitting runner who needs a bit of extra support and cush.
do the zoot shoes come in an EE model?
I also use Kayanos and just picked up a pair of last season Zoots. They seem to run a tad narrower than the Kayanos but that might be due to its “slipper” design. I haven’t ran anything longer than a 5k in them yet but I like them so far.
I have a wide foot also and have been looking can not find in wide. I was thinking about going a size bigger. 5k and 10k is not that long and if you use them only for racing these distances should be okay. Right? Any thoughts
99% sure they don’t come in an EE or any widths. i wear a normal width asics and fit the zoots very well (I have 2 pairs of zoots) but if you need a wider shoe they probably aren’t for you.
hrm, ok. the search for the perfect WIDE shoe continues…
