I don’t think it’s making fun of the baby but it is certainly poor taste to use ones baby to make fun of the parents and grandparents of the baby. Unless of course you think you know that this particular baby is a liberal at birth.

Yes all babies cry. However the term “Cry baby” is a term used rarely for babies and is a derogatory term used for whiney people and children. I don’t know about you but I’ve never heard “Oh, he’s such a cry baby” in a flattering form.
The term “Liberal” is also generally a derogatory term especially in politics and in this case is being applied to a baby, a baby that clearly has not shown any political tendencies at all so thus the term is used under the assumption that because his parents are liberal he will be as well. Again, an attack or insult against the parents and grandparents. Yes, poor taste at best. Out and out mean at worst.
