I’m trying to find a cheap ticket into the New York area for American Zofingen and the best I can do is into Laguadia. What kind of drive out of the city and north to New Paltz can I expect if I arrive at 4 pm and leave around 5pm? Newark is a little more expensive but looks to be a similar drive.
Do yourself a favor and fly into Newark. Laguardia can be a disaster. Newark can, too, but I have worse memories of Laguardia.
Better yet, fly into Stewart or Albany. Albany is larger than Stewart and is probably serviced by more carriers. It is a little farther than Newark, but is likely a faster drive.
I don’t know where your flying in from but Stewart Int Airport is within minutes of New Paltz. The drive from LaG at 5 in the afternoon could be hellish, same with Newark. Good luck
I would go for LGA. Traffic will not be as bad as you think . Better shot at it being non hateful than messing with northern jersey that time of day. Kinda 6 of 1. Albany is a much easier drive but most of the flights are RJ’s and really full lately so your bike could be an issue. Stewart would be best if you can get the right flight. If you want more detail about driving from LGA let me know.
White Plains is too spendy for ya now eh? I’m not surprised…
Stewart would be ideal, but it also (for some bizarre reason) tends to be on the expensive side of things.
LGA and Newark can both be a bit of a crap shoot. Only major plus to Newark is, you’re already on the correct side of the bridge, so you don’t need to cross the Hudson.
Bridge traffic is the worst, and coming north from LGA you’d hafta hit 2 of 'em.
Albany is worth looking into, if for no other reason than it’s a LOT closer than either LGA or Newark, and the traffic will be a fraction of what those could potentially deal out to ya.
The White Plains was a free coupon ticket and they are pricing double other fares right now. Stewart is the same. Initially the Albany prices were too high earlier in the week, but now they look better. I was having second thoughts, but I think I am coming after all.
Thanks everyone. Suggesting Albany made me look again and I found something economical. Now, I’m committed. 104 miles of mountainous multi-sport fun. Of course, I could have bought half a new bike for what it is costing, but …
