New York City Tri

Hello everyone. I am doing the NYC Tri thisweekend and was wondering who else was doing it. Also for those of you who have competed in this race before do you have any tips or comments on the course?

Thanks

We’ll all be there…

I’m doing it and it seems like a really shitty race from what I’ve heard.
You have to be at the start mega early, you have to walk to the swim start , you have to rack your bike the night before and can’t bring a pump into transition in the morning, all this and after the finish ,you have to walk cross town to get your bike.
Seems like too much to think about…
Good luck, have a good one…

A few points of note:

  1. Relatively long run into T1 from the swim exit.
  2. “Technical” start to the bike from the mount line to the Henry Hudson Parkway (both narrow as well as steep ramp). Be sure you have your gearing set.
  3. Bike course will be crowded with a lot of novice competitors.
  4. Bike course has a couple noteworthy climbs, but nothing too bad.
  5. The entry to T2 can get clogged with novice athletes being very deliberate (lots of walking and chit chatting), so be careful if you plan on flying through with a running dismount.
  6. Steep, but short, climb from T2 to the run course - start slow and wait until you hit 72nd Street before getting up to speed on the run.
  7. Run course is challenging - rolling hills throughout with a couple long hills in the middle. Last two miles are pretty fast.

FYI, unless there is a rule change from last year, I had no problem bringing my pump into transition.

Thanks , I would have worried all night about that one.

It’s almost like a Transition setup ritual for every triathlete. It’s all about the psi’s LOL.

So true… LOL
