Michael Johnson’s 200M WR is just about untouchable…19.32 is the perfect harmony of a great athlete at his physical peak and some damn good drugs.

i agree - he’s a tool but he was one fast tool. Funny, I saw him at a club not too long ago - someone told me he parked his Ferarri (late 80’s) out in the parking lot and the licence plate was WR 979. … guess he’s still holdin on…

I gotta admit though, it was funny to see him run like that at the time, still accelerating with everyone else losing ground. With that license plate he’s holding back the years for real. His plate should read ‘IMAROIDIN’.
A typicall triathlete comment to that:

Cocky, yes. At times a distraction, sure. A jerk, na. I met him some years back. He’s kind of reserved off the field and seemed pretty cool. I know it’s not what T&F is about but a lot of these guys are actors. Swelled until the next fast one comes along and busts them. He’ll always be remembered by the flag draping incident in AU but whatever.
Yep, the 96 games were known as the “human growth hormone” olympics. Michael’s record is a lot like Flo Jo’s woman 100 meter record. To bad she died at an early age.

I did a photoshoot for an Adidas commercial a couple of years ago with Mo Greene and Dwaine Chambers. It was at Coyote Point on SF bay in February and it was the coldest wettest windiest day you could imagine.
We were out there in the weather for about 4 hours as the damn photographer took shot after shot after shootof Maurice and Dwaine in the set position and me and a bunch of shinny runners lined up behind them like in a marathon start. They were both very cool about it and didn’t complain…much.
The ad was only used in Europe I think but it was in the program for the Paris World Track and Field Championships and I got my hands on a copy. I’m standing right on Mo’s shoulder.

yeah, he’s got a big gear on the straights. i think he might develop into a good 400m runner as well. i think he’s still a teenager.
