I’m surprised this hasn’t made the slowtwitch news

I think there should be a mom’s beer mile pushing a stroller with a newborn child.

Yeah, but a record none the less - not bad for her first ever try. The article said she can do sub-5 flat out mile and is eying sub-6.

Put up or shut up.

The first rule of beer mile is YOU DON’T TALK ABOUT BEER MILE.

Hard to believe she’s the mother of 6. Is she sure all of them are hers?

When I heard it this morning on the news, I thought the same thing. There has to be about 1000+ collegiate women runners that could go out and do better than that this afternoon. (I would have said high school, but they aren’t legal drinking age yet).

Yeah Dec. 3rd should be great to see how fast the men can go and if the women can go under 6. I hope that the current men’s world record holder shows up but from the sub4 video it seems he may not be attending.

anyone need hosting in Austin to go for it?

She is a mother of 6 children. She probably does that type of drinking between laundry and dinner.

I watched part of the video…I did not care so much about the drinking part as I find the entire concept not very interesting (sorry guys). What I wanted to see was her actual 400m splits. Her first lap was around 77 seconds. For a woman about to turn 45 that alone is amazing. Add in 6 kids, and I have no doubt that this girl is still a sub 5 min miler. I read that she is a 35.xx 10K. Very impressive all around. The drinking part I will leave to you guys. Personally I could not run a 77 second 400m all out when I was 44. If I recall the fastest standalone 400m I ran in the last 2 years was 83 seconds.

Is it cheating to drink Michelob Ultra during a beer mile? It seems it should be…

The delta between male and female WR is about 30 seconds. Therefore the delta between beer mile records should be about 30 seconds…or a bit more due to taking longer.

Therefore…can anyone in Austin run a 5:30 beer mile?

I have a feeling the women may be a bit handicapped trying to cram 48 oz of liquid and alcohol in a much smaller package.

Exactly, I’m not trying to be negative here. I’m trying to spur on the competition

SUB 6

Maybe I’ll see it happen here in austin

I heard it on NPR…of all places, haha.

There may be a lot of runners who can do better running…but can they really hold it down according to the rules? If this lady really has 6 kids - she must be pretty good at drinking to stay sane anyway. Good on her and congrats!

I’ve started to drink heavily just hearing about someone having 6 kids

It is not just that…the women are gaining proportionally more weight per lap, slowing them down more. By the last lap everyone should have gained over a kilogram of weight and that will affect the smaller runners more than the larger runners.
