That’s cool. As a Fort Collins resident, I had no idea we were/are getting a wind tunnel. Neato. Now if we can get that Velodrome built, Fort Fun will be the cycling destination on the front range.
Does the facility have a rolling floor to accurately model ground effects? I didn’t see any mention of it on the website…
Thanks,
Jake
congrats mark! seems like you’re gonna have a pretty slick testing facility over there.
any idea on how the standard errors for testing in that wind tunnel are gonna compare with the MIT one?
Congrats on the opening. I don’t have that kind of coin but how do you get into the free sessions? Can I get my money back if I have the slipperiest position? And I am seriously willing to bet I’d be very close.

Excellent question.
A The wind tunnel is in Fort Collins, Colorado, and is setup to work with cyclists and triathletes using the most advanced, cycling specific wind tunnel available in the world. )
is it only me
but there no single detail about the specifics of the windtunnel
like reynolds data
low speed flow and so on…
and you still call it the most advanced in the world i doubt it
becuase thats standing 25 miles from my home
in the netherlands
come up with the specifics i bet we beat you
hence we even have a moving belt floor
for simulation team time trails and group riding
and there 3 specific balance’s can can be interchanged at need
and very specific to cycling needs so… nothing new to us here
we even test solar cars(netherlands make the best of the in the world)

and HPV 's
after all we cyling nation in the world
Direction by expert aerodynamicist and bike position optimizer, Mark Cote
Position Optimization, the determination of your most optimal position in relation to power output, aerodynamics, and metabolic efficiency
by the way how do you become bike position optimizer??
do you use special 3D software as we do?
and how are you measure metabolic efficiency in the windtunnel???
cees

Nyah, nyah…my windtunnel can beat up your wind tunnel ![]()

.
I will take the best that America has to offer from MIT than anything else in world also! ![]()
“…and a free wind tunnel test session! The first testing sessions are filling up on Aug 25th and 26th.”
at first, i read that as FREE sessions available on both days. then i came down to earth and realized it’s only ONE free given in the raffle. damn, need to save up. ![]()
Are you serious? The MIT wind tunnel is horrible.
Not the tunnel, but the MIT engineers and engineering.
wow. i had never heard of that tunnel. it sounds like you work there? can you get me in?
I will be in Berlin this year.
Is this for real?! Did this thread just deteriorate into a dick-measuring contest over wind tunnels in just seven posts?
Mark,
I just left a message to get a spot in the wind tunnel at your Grand Opening.
Congrats on this project!!!
lol seriously sounds like it there
.
At least cees didn’t say they invented the internet. It looked like he might have been going there also but stopped. ![]()
lol…i wonder if it really is the best wind tunnel in the world…you think they developed that new Pinnarello Tri bike there lol
