New Tubie, oozing air slowly, do what?

I replaced my Cont 4000 flat with a Zipp Tangent and found that I am loosing slowly over a few days. I did not have Stans but thinking now to deflate, remove, add Stan’s and reglue. Is this advisable? I do have another Zipp Tangent that I can use and then save the other one for the front when that one needs replace.

Don’t do anything, that’s the way those tires behave. I have the same ones and wondered what the hell was going on until some more experienced roadies told me that all the expensive Vittoria’s (they make the Zipp Tangente’s) do that. I just make sure I pump them up before I race and I’m good to go. The amount of air you would lose in an hour or two between pumping them up and getting out of the water is negligible compared to the amount of pressure from heat that’s going to build as soon as you start rolling hard on your wheels.

Have a great day!

its a feature!

well not really, its a tradeoff of latex which has lower rolling resistance but also lower air holding skills

That’s just the way latex tubes are. They roll nice too.

Yes, that is what the Zipp folks told me when I contacted them. Thanks.

There’s also the Vittoria EVO CS tire option, which is a butyl-tubed tubular for triathlons where you need to rack the bike up the night prior- doesn’t leak like the EVO CX (latex tube) version, but won’t roll quite as nicely as a result.
