New Trek Speed Concept

Haha, yes. There was definitely some wheel swapping going on. I have quite a few wheelsets, but not that many. It’s a compilation of single shots of SC’s I own or have owned in various setup stages.

Has anyone installed the Tri Rig Scoops SL to the gen 3 Trek SC?

I know tririg says its not recommended

If so can you share the hardware you used?

Last year I used the Scoops with the aerocoach angled base, but Im concerned about the durability of how i mounted it and am looking for a better approach this year

Any help much appreciated

I have them on my gen3 SC and I made them work.
It’s the same issue you’d have with the larger TriRig scoops - getting them toed in enough without them hitting the front of the extension base.
TriRig offers the SC hardware kit which includes reducer washers, longer m4 bolts, and some aluminum riser blocks. I didn’t like the risers (too tall for my liking, and they look sort of, umm… stupid).
I fabricated some 2.5° wedges out of a carbon sheet. The wedges raise the front of the scoops up enough, to get them toed in perfectly for my forearm position. Without any riser you will be extremely limited in the amount you can angle in the scoops.

TriRig risers (that I didn’t use):

My cockpit (note, I made my own pads, as I couldn’t stand the cheap rubber stuff the TriRig cups came with):

The wedge spacers:

Is the fit assistance thread for the Speed Concept dead? I’m looking at getting a frameset and I’m sort of between a L and XL. Current pad stack is 683mm and pad reach is 521mm (measured to the back of the arm pads). Looking at the frame reach of the L (426mm) I need an extra 95mm (3.75 in.) from the steerer to the rear of the arm cups. Looks doable and I’m concerned the XL would be too tall.

You need this: SCFitData_nov21.pdf

And yes, that is not just XL but XL with far topper (ie you will need to go Project one build, or buy the additional toppers for an off the shelf build.

Seat height depending on if you go short or long (long standard on XL)

Note that you are still using some spacers to get the stack.

I’m not using the Trek extensions/arm pads, I plan on going aftermarket and using only the Trek base bar, but this is helpful!

edit: Looks like the max reach on the L frame is 511, so I probably need an XL combined with any base bar. I need to figure out the reach number from the bottom bracket to the rear of the stack spacers to confirm.

Yep, that was where I got to on your post. That said the aftermarket bars do seem to add some reach. So depends on your thinking about why you want to avoid an XL. My fit gave me options on M, L &XL. I went L with mid topper and high base bar as that gave me most future flexibility and also possibly slightly easier travel. That said I am close to max on the seatpost height

The Sync Ergo extensions I plan on using can add reach to the stock spacers, but not subtract it. So I just need to make sure that a L frame (which would be easier to travel with) is close enough to my reach numbers. Seat post might not be an issue because my inseam is 32", it’s just my arms that are freakishly long for my height.

Which model of Sync ?

Aerobar Two, which allow 45mm of forward adjustment for the elbows pads and I believe they can also include a 20mm offset base bar adapter for the Speed Concept.

Yep, 6’4" and I’m all legs and no spine here. Which does end up putting me up high, and from there (with a couple of other medical issues) the CoG is up and handling can get twitchy if I am not careful. Where the Speed Concept is very good for me as a package.

Cool

We’ve been setting up riders with the Three systems and they absolutely love them.
We use Velobike, uber adjustable systems to do 80% of the work and then fine tune a final fit on the Three.

Seems like a size L with a long seat post will work for me. Easier to travel with and I should be able to hit my reach numbers. They should be coming out with a BTA solution too, I imagine they’ll become more popular with triathletes at that point.
