After a 1500 mile drive, my wife and I recently crossed the Hoover Dam and set up house in Las Vegas. What a city … I’ve touristed here several times, but living here is a different thing all together.
Any advice on good places to ride, and run? We currently live near Wayne Newton’s Casa de Shenandoah (Sunset and Pecos area).
Where are the best pools for lap swimming? I’m also looking for a gym.
This is a little off topic but I have always thought that you could have a great “made for T.V.” triathlon in Vegas. Do the swim in the Bellagio lake, the fountains would make it interesting. bike up and down the strip a few times and then run the 10k on the strip. Finish under the Arc de Triumph at the Paris. Maybe do it at night under the lights.
Your initial response should be to go to Red Rock Canyon and buy an annual pass - you’ll be doing a lot of riding and running up there. Then on your way down Charleston there’s a bike shop on the right about a mile down from where the city starts - they’ll give you a ride schedule (I don’t remember the name/address).
I lived in Vegas for 7 months November 2003-April 2004 (inclusive) and found it nearly impossible to stay fit aside from a lot of treadmill running and an bi-weekly trip to Red Rock.
