New to PM

Planning on getting a pm i saw a thread of having issues with syncing and keeping during a race. never thought about this,

I use a 910 with quick release and after the swim i put 910 mounted on quick release in torpedo system 400. what do you guys have to do in order to get it to work and have no issues? how does 1 deal with this or does a 510 have to be on and synced before swim start and leave it on auto pause based on cadence/speed sensors so when you start biking it keeps paired with your specific…

or are different pm’s have different operations.

The 910 should auto find the PM if you have already paired the two. This is no issue.

Not sure about the 910, but my Garmin 405, automatically synchs almost immediately with previously paried devices. So I’d expect it to work the same. However, I’ll have it in my T2 bag, so I’d actually leave it off and rely on my footpod until it reacquires satellites after the first few miles (IMWI with indoor transition area). Fortunately my Timex cycle trainer immediately pairs and re-pairs devices even after they’ve been “lost”.

My Bontrager node OTOH, was a royal PITA with paring devices if they were lost during a ride.

ah ok, i suppose the 910 has a specific id it knows to pair up and only pick mine up and not have reception issues? or it’ll be blank until i separate from other pms in a race.

I’ve used the old LYC joule and now the new Cycleops joule. You just turn them on and it works.

Ahh okay, cool. Deciding on quarq vs vectors.

I think any head unit will ultimately have this same “turn it on and it works” behavior as long as everything is set up properly and all batteries are charged.
