Any pictures or comments on the new Time pedals at Interbike?
Very cool. These will find a way onto my bike this winter, replacing ancient Speedplays. 4 models, of varying weight and exotica. These look, finally, to be the perfect pedal. I liked these a little better than Look’s Keo, which is also a very cool pedal.
Well, my comment is that these could be the new “ultimate” road pedal.
Full disclosure: I was the U.S. National Technical Representaive for Time Sport USA under former U.S. President J.P. Pascal and Doug Knox, director of technical services for Time Sport USA.
I am hopeful about this pedal because of their large platform, adjustable “Q” factor, rotational movement that originates at the center of the pedal (not the toe), close proximity of metatarsil joint to pedal axle and several other factors.
I have not been a fan of the new “Impact” Time pedal due predominantly to the very small, fast wearing cleat- which I don’t like.
This new pedal- I will definately try and I have high hopes for.
Is there a solid chance these are not going to be vapor wear?
That, my fine friend, is the $64 question.
Time’s wholesale distribution is currently handled by a distributor- and a fine one at that- Quality Bicycle Parts.
A change in that (i.e. Time going direct) may influence lead time. We’ll see. I didn’t get an ETA.
Did you see the SMP (side mount pedals) while you were there? What did you think?
Anyone? Anyone? Ferris?
Tom,
Can you shed any more light on the functionality of the RXS pedal? I have heard that the lateral float will be limited to 2.5mm only with no adjustment. Have I heard correctly? Will they still have the same 10deg float?
Any further news on availability?
thanks
Geoff
