New sweat PR

(well, I didn’t do IM this weekend, so had to find another extreme)

49 mile bike ride on Saturday, about 92 degrees and 130% humidity here in NJ. Started at 169 lbs, drank ~75oz, weighed 163 1/4 at end. 10.5 pounds gross (and I do mean gross) sweat loss in 2.5 hours.

My shoes are still wet. Yecch.

I don’t know what was going on this weekend…
I couldn’t stop sweating either. Even just when walking around outside.

Hah, you have me beat there! I thought **I **was a heavy sweater, I went through 6 NXT bottles full (about 130oz or so) over 70 miles and lost right at 3lb. My sweat rate for the 3.5hrs was about 1.5L/hr, just a bit less than my normal 1.6-1.9 range for the 90-103F it was on Saturday. My calculations put you at about 1.93L/hr which is pretty huge. Strangely I never sweat into my shoes though…it all drips off my head.

You should check your shorts for a baby. I think congratulations are in order.

I hear ya. Did a 50 miler on Saturday mid-morning (had to wait for the dense fog to burn off) here in SE PA. By the fifth mile I was completely drenched. At the midpoint, my girlfriend rode by on her way to the gym and it was very difficult to not flag her down for a ride.

I didn’t do the pre- and post-ride weight thing, but I drank 4 bottles on the ride and then proceeded to drink about another gallon before bedtime.

The most brutal weather I’ve ever trained in.

Man, I hope they have air conditioning at the airport and looks like I will stay inside waiting for my connecting flight.
I have no idea what humidity is, but sure sounds like I want to stay away from it.

I had the same experience on Saturday in Austin. I drank 96 oz of fluid between 2 hr bike, 1 hour run but still dropped 7 lbs. I think my sweat was flowing in the gutter by the end of the workout. My shoes are still damp.

I drank continually the rest of the day, yet still woke up on Sunday feeling dehydrated.

I’m from the desert. I hate humidity.
