Gonna take advantage of the tax free weekend here in SC and get some new shoes. Any suggestions, I really never wear socks and I am slow runner, so I need a shoe that will be comfortable without socks and make me run faster.
Wow, way to be vague. Running shoes are about as personal as you can get. What do you run in right now? Do they work for you?
Hmm… a shoe that will make you run faster. I believe I have a few of those stashed somewhere. I’ll go look.
Seriously, you just need to get whatever fits you properly. I’d suggest having a good running store fit you in a few shoes, and you tell them how they feel. There is a difference.
I like my shoes I currently run in but my wife said “we should get new sneakers with this tax free weekend” I couldn’t say no. any thoughts zoots?
Again, try some on, see how they feel, and seek the input from someone who is knowledgeable.

Will do

Cool! Seriously, one of my favorite things to do at running stores is to try on new shoes. I’m a running shoe whore, and have WAY too many pairs… even my wife says so!

I’m a recent Zoot convert (Ultra Race 2.0). Love 'em so far. I’ve been running sockless in them - first time doing that - I’m up to 15 mile runs so far. Planning to run an upcoming full mary in them unless my upcoming 20-mile training run makes me hate them (I acknowledge that’s a definite possibility).
I tried Newtons, and I don’t get what the hype is all about. I don’t hate them, but I sure don’t love them Plus, they are all sorts of fugly. Arguably, some would contend the Zoots are fugly too, but not as bad as the goofy looking flouro Newtons.
To each their own… Bottomline: Fit and functions are your primary concerns, and a good running shop can make sure you have the best treads for your needs & style.
Happy Hunting!
Cheers, Chris
I just picked up a pair of Zoots this weekend and plan on starting to run without socks although my feet sweat like crazy. It will be a change for me, but I loved how they felt on my foot and while running.
As others have said, go try a ton on, especially if you need some additional support for your run style etc. A shoe that helps keep you injury free is the best one for you.
Ran across this a while back, interesting read…
