New respect to long course racers!

I did a (for me) a long training ride today about 60 miles. About 3/4 the way through I began to think of the triathletes that race 140.6. I couldn’t imagine having to double what I just rode and then run 26 miles. I have a new found respect to those who train and sacrifice to finish those races. Just my 2 cents!

No doubt…I think the same same thing every time I do those rides. Hats off to the guys who can run a half or a full after that…I am taking my shot next year. Go SC…

Put in the time and training and it is no worse than a sprint!

Man I think sprints are brutal compared to IM. Just how I am built (and train for) I guess.

Sprinting all out for 30min to an hour in mind boggling to me. But spinning away for hours on end, no problem. Long ago I realized that the longer the race, the closer to the front I get.

I found sprints to be more stressful in some ways then longer races. Probably because you’re pacing yourself in IM or HIM, where as you’re red-lining the whole way in a sprint, and you pay for it.

I’m with you. The one time I did a sprint I could barely walk for three days. Two days after IMC I was able to take a nice recovery jog with little pain.
