New PR - Huge Improvement

Today I rode outside at 32 degrees, an 8 degree improvement over my previous personal best. I was prepared to go lower but my start was delayed by about an hour. During the delay, the sun started breaking through the clouds and my dreams of going sub 30 melted away like a dropped popcicle on a hot summer afternoon.

Hopefully the weather will hold out and I will get another chance to prove my manhood before it warms up.

did your hands stay warm? What kind of gloves?

It’s 34 with a wind chill of 26 here right now, and I’m getting on the trainer. You are bigger man than I.

Without appropriate windproof clothing he might be a much “smaller” man
.

You are a better man than I, as I decided I couldn’t hack it after only a very short while at close to the same temperature.

One thing I did learn though is that the extra 7 pounds I’m lugging around suddenly isn’t so funny.

Tom, my training partner and I rode outside yesterday with nothing more than Louis Garneau lobster claws on our hands…the weather was 30 degrees ambient with steady 15-20mph winds…I initially took a pair of liner gloves, anticipating the LGs failing against that sort of onslought and needing some backup…but those LGs were awesome all day (over a 3 hour ride). While my Cannondale shoe covers lost out about 2 hours into the ride, my hands remain warm and cozy…so much so that they actually started to sweat on a 1 mile climb… I can’t recommend those LGs enough…
