New Polar Power Meter - Any Info?

Polar introduced an updated version of its power meter solution during Eurobike and Interbike. Does anyone have any information on the unit i.e. cost, delivery date, specs., etc. Any Polar reps on the board?
Thanks.

I would be interested in seeing this. The Polar unit has always been interesting but has a long way to come I think. The chain weight calibration method never struck me as producing accurate results.

I believe it was on this forum or maybe even over at the weightweenies.com forum that I read they addressed some of these issues with the new model. I believe they added wireless transmission as well. If you are a Polar dealer perhaps you could ping your rep and find out. I have a 625x and beside it being a little clunky on the wrist have been very happy with the unit. I use the speed and cadence sensor on my bike and find the sw pretty good as well. If they could get the power portion worked out I am sure they would sell a lot of units. For the average AG’er the overall accuracy, while important, should not be a show stopper.

I would I think it is ok if the power meter is off by X watts, as long as it is always off by X. So don’t even have to know what X is. You can still pace yourself.

Talked with a Polar rep today and he was still noncommittal on delivery. Maybe early March was his guess.

The deal killer for me is that the power is not consistent across gears. The distance from the chain tot he transmitter makes a big difference. Making it unusable for a triple and possibly for a double depending on your setup.

Otherwise, everything seems OK enough. With a steep hill and some math you can figure out what constants to enter into the thing to get it to read correctly.

Am I seeing this correctly?

Watch 350-400$
Power - ~650
Foot pod Sensor Additional?

So around 1300-1400+ to have power, HR and running pace distance?

What’s a PT go for? Doesn’t that give you everything except the running pace?
