What’s the deal with Spencer. I thought he was packing it in after another failed Kona. OR is he going to the shorter Mid-Long course stuff 70.3, 101 etc?

I would think that he would be great at 70.3 It might be the perfect distance for him.
I saw SS at IM Cali last year…he was right in the thick of it and got 3rd. 4:05 on a tough day. Not bad considering his terrible accident in 2005.
From all I’ve heard, he seems like a class guy, I hope he continues to race for a while.
Spencer was riding very strong at last weekends planet x meetup , next years plans are very fluid - probably a real mix with no high pressure plans .
The Planet X roadies in the team were trying very hard to persuade him to be their 5th man at the 8 day FBD Milk Ras in May - the main Irish UCI stage race and thats a distinct possibility .
Theres also an offer on the table to race for a month or so in Italy / southern France which suits Spencers plans very well since hell be spending time in Italy working on his S2 clothing .
Always admired Spencer, fast or slow I wish him well and truly hope to see him perform in 2007 at whatever sport he chooses.
Rarely do you encounter someone who puts themselves out there like he does. Heart on his sleeve kind of guy.
As a sponsor of a lot of athletes over the years I can honestly say Spencer is an absolute treasure to work with , in terms of positive attitude , always up for a challenge , never complains , a unique person in terms of athletic ability and pure good spirit , and an consumate professional always ready to meet any challenge thrown at him with his own unique style , spirit , and personality.
Im sure that the new pros on our books will be learing a lot from him , not only in athletic terms , but in the way they deal with adversity , and interact with people around them .
and Spencer’s funny too…
…well…moderately…if I hadn’t been injured and limping around, his comment about not having to worry about me on the bike leg at Big Rock years ago might have been funnier if directed towards a non-gimp ![]()
(of course, he dominated and won that race - back in '01 or '02?)
