It sounds like it may just not be able to tell you where in the pedal stroke your power is applied.
I think if you were to “pull up” or “push forward” over the top it would indeed miss your power input.
This very nearly never happens when going hard though. Might lose a bit on steep climbs at low cadence?

Very good point. But I think even at zone 2 & 3 efforts, I’d think three’s a significant portion of power coming from those missed segments.
So what your saying is that it’s nearly as flawed as a Stages PM…but hey at least it measures the right side and it’s error is probably bigger during steady state and lower power outputs than during accelerating and higher outputs.
So whereas the Stages is probably OK for TT and poor for crits, this one is great for crits and road races, but not as ideal for longer steady state efforts… like ohhh maybe a 70.3 or IM bike.

Back off. We can reverse engineer and redesign a product from just one twitter pic and a fluff writeup. Just like we can eyeball wind tunnel a bike position to within 0.03% of CdA +/- 0.001% from one static image.
No you didn’t, I don’t have enough information yet, either as to whether it would miss that kind of power input at all, or how much that contributes to error. If it does miss those power inputs, I wouldn’t buy it, because you can buy things that don’t miss them.

At the price point they look like a good deal. If they work that is.
Too true! Though more competition will hopefully push the price down and open up power to a whole new market (at least I hope it does). Sub $500 should be the goal.
I don’t know about the accuracy, but putting all that “stuff” on the bottom and outer edge of the pedal is not going to work for anyone who races. Those areas get beat up… and it’s a vulnerable spot for anyone riding. Looks like they could have put the battery and electronics inboard towards the crank where it is well protected.
