appears to be another doggie dump in our “wilderness” neighborhood.
“what shall we do with fido, marge?”
“let’s release him back into the wild. like born free.”
“great idea, marge. we’ll let him out next to a babbling brook. where he can drink. and fish.”
i told the wife, “let’s call him gilligan.” she sorely objected to that. “i hated gilligan’s island,” she alerted me.
so, we tried a few other names. i tried to get in “li’l buddy” and “skipper,” and he’s a boy, so, no maryanne or ginger."
finally, she suggested “minnow.” i asked her why, and she said it’s because he’s so small and frail and he was skin and bones when we found him, from starvation; a marvel he wasn’t gotten by the coyotes.
i asked her if there was any other reason for “minnow.” she said, no, why?
i didn’t say anything
we’ve had him 3 or 4 days. we’ll take him to the vet, see if he’s chipped, see if the vet recognizes him as someone else’s pet. failing all of that, minnow is part of the pack.
Awesome! Looks a little like Kansas, the dog I picked up wandering the highway on the way back from 70.3 Kansas, but, looks like she is in MUCH better shape.
What a great looking dog! We are on number 4, which I keep saying is one less than what we need. However, we are already violating the city ordinance, so, any more may land us in hot water. Fortunately, we are on the outter edge of the city in a more rural area.
If I only had the land, I would have AT LEAST a dozen!
Good for you! I am part of the local rescue organization here. It is so sad to see people just dump off their problems expecting these dogs will survive. It is people like you that make it a little better for them and the world.
Now…can you convince Art it is okay to have three…maybe four dogs? He has put his foot down at two…Granted they are each 100+ pounds but that really is no excuse…
awwwww. how cute.
thank you and the wife for being the people you are. little Minnow is a very lucky fellow
i have 3 “dumped” dogs that share my bed each night. i know they are thankful for me as well.
Minnow’s sleeping buddy appears to have welcomed him into the fold.
I don’t want to hijack Dan’s thread, but check out our little pup that TriSports.com adopted just a few weeks ago. Showed up in our parking lot all alone early one morning. Our warehouse manager found her and one of our bike guys adopted her (there was a waiting list). She is a now a fixture at the shop.
