Reading this months Triathlete there is mention (without picture) that a new Kuota is on it’s way with dimpled stays and prices similary to the Kalibur. This sounds interesting ! Does anyone have any ideas as Kuota’s site has been stripped bare and I can’t find out anything yet.
I read the same mag and was wondering the same thing.
I also wonder why they need to dimple the inside of the stay (if this is, infact, what they mean)? I would dimple the fork and the headtube before anything else. Sounds like an excuse to make manufacturing that much harder.
Oh no…the next bike evolution…a fully-dimpled carbon frame.
How long before triathletes evolve into fully-dimpled skin!! Would that help or hurt when swimming??
Naw, the next step is a bulbous bow and stern with with the addition a skin ripple affect to break up parasitic adhesion reducing the boundary layers…
I asked the dealer and it is listed in the canadian dealers price list from Eurospek (the distributor) - price is about the same as a painted kharma frame…give or take 100 bucks or so
no pictures in the 05 catalog though

Are athletes with dimples more aerodynamic?
I think fully dimpled skin is known as cellulite. It might make you more buoyant, but I think the benefits in the swim would be offset in the bike and the run.
I’d put my money on it being an aerodynamics thing similar to the dimples on a golf ball making it fly farther.
What about pimples?
Pimples make you uber fast. Think about. You gots the pimples? That means chicks aren’t exactly lined up to ask you out and you’re likely single. This frees up a metric tonne of time for training.

Not sure about the dimples, but I know a new TT frame is on the way at a lower price point than the Kaliber. I believe delivery dates are by May (read: Sept. ;-)).
