New Kuota for the Spotmeister! (pics)

I don’t know if this officially qualifies as porn, but its pretty darn nice. Got a good deal from the guys down at Wheelie Fun, too. They had had the frame for quite a while, and built the whole thing up for me (full Ultegra 10-speed, Reynolds Alta Race Comp Wheels, Arione Tri saddle, Profile T2+ aero bars, Profile T2 Wing base bar, and Michelin Pro Race tires) for $3400, plus a fit session to get everything dialed in. She weighed in right at around 18 pounds I think. Now I’m going to take my P2K and turn that bike into a fixie…my Christmas holiday project. Of course, its seriously cold here today, and I feel like crap from a cold, but I gotta go ride her for the first time in a bit. RRoof…now you have to get one so we can have matching road and tri bikes!!

Looks good. I’m still waiting for my frame to arrive, but it will look very similar to yours. Same saddle, same aerobars. Curious, did the frame come with the Kuota stem? Also, are those 9-speed chainrings, or does Ultegra use different chain rings than Dura Ace 10? I thought they were the same.

I don’t know how the frame came…it was always displayed with that Kuota carbon fiber stem, and it was part of the deal. Ultegra and Dura-Ace chainrings are different.

Nice bike. I hope you like yours are much as I like mine…I’m going for a ride today. Nice day out here.

Kittycat and rroof mentioned the rumor of your new purchase during our run this morning. I am now officially jealous. Very nice build and a smoking deal to boot! Good choice on wheels and bars- I really dig the Alta’s. I am still about a year away from getting the funds together to get a SLC. You dirty dog…will you adopt me?

Hey, Spot nice! Kittycat was just mentioning your new bike this morning on our run! We must have very similar taste (and fit) in bikes as I have been eyeing the Kalibur as well. Only a few details about the bike I’m not keen with, but it is on my short list. I think we ride about the same size - I might have to try is out some day as well if you don’t mind!

P2K as a fixie too - nice stable you have now!

Thanks Rod! Yes…I have pretty much run out of excuses for new bikes as of this morning! You are welcome to give it a ride anytime you like.

cool bike. How do you like those brake levers?

I’ll tell you in about 2 hours when I get back from my inaugural ride!

Nice! I think I’ll be ordering one for me pretty soon, but in the new white color. Of course, it’ll be another 5 months or so before it’ll be warm enough to ride it outside around here…

For those Kuota owners out there, did any of you consider the Scott Plasma instead of the Kalibur? What made you choose the Kalibur over the Scott.

Well, I chose the Kalibur over the Scott Plasma due to the fact that the Plasma probaby won’t fit in my Triall3 bike case with that long seat mast. Other than that, no real reason…I just liked the Kalibur better.

I liked 'em. No issues.

Porn or not, I think that looks like a really nice bike. I particularly like the fact that you went with a full Shimano gruppo and didn’t use FSA cranks.

Enjoy it.
