New K-swiss Racing Flats (PIC)

cute tri suit to!
glad they are improving their race kits, although leito’s has always been different (in a good way) compared to the other sponsored athlete’s ( in a horrible way). biscay and granger are so cute, you would think k-swiss would make better race kits for them. the regular k-swiss sportswear is nice, fun and looks good on them.

He’s now using a Kwami (sp?) suit with K-Swiss logos (see pic below). I’m not sure if he picked up a new sponsor, or if this is what he uses when he can’t put a wetsuit over the looser fit. Personally I like the white kit with the shield.

Are the flats going to be narrow in the toe box or are they going to be fairly wide like the other K-Swiss running shoes. I have the K-Ona and the MiSoul and while I really want to like them, can’t run more than about 5 miles without issues because the toe boxes are huge compared to the Saucony’s I usually run in.

mmmm… he looks really good in that tri suit! haute , haute, haute!
thanks for showing the eye candy…

matty reed wears the same one.

thats a pretty awesome pic cuase of the fact that you got so close, did you have a media pass by the way? For the shoes I’m much more of a nike guy especially the Bowerman Series and in my opinion those streak XCs are lighter and better ventilation becuase of the mesh they’re made of.

No press pass; things are just that accessible. There are some additional photos on the San Jose Tri thread: http://forum.slowtwitch.com/gforum.cgi?post=2382241;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread

The nikes were well represented by the pros as well. I saw a few Lunar Racers and one guy used Mayflys.

I am certainly not in awe of the inhaler. But I am sure there is a medical reason and there is a TUE, but the pics just show that it is not about the shoes.

Nice guerrilla marketing attempt that may actually backfire.

hey guys, i love all the spririted conversation on these things. if the marketing department is on top of things rarely affects when a shoe is released. this shoe is available at retail in 2010 so a few months early will actually be in Kona 2009. we would love to release them now but our final revisions based on lieto’s, loeffler’s, and bozzone’s feedback are just finished so that the shoes production can be rolled out in time for Kona. we are making select sizes for our athletes like Matty now so that they can train in them. keep up the feedback pos or neg, i love reading your opinions. i especially like the breathability comment compared to the xc. analyzing breathability and weight from a picture is quite a skill.

ROFLMAO!! Shanks got pwn’d

Will there be anything that separates your racers from the usual flats that have been out for years? Like Nike’s Lunar foam or even lighter than the competition or very cheap?

Sometimes, what separates a shoe is just the fit and feel. A company can make dozens and dozens of different models over the years that don’t feel very good and then, one year, using the same technology and no innovations or great features, they hit on something that just fits “right” for you. You must have had this experience. Whenever I stumble across a shoe like that, I immediately go out and pick up as many pair as I can afford since I know that 6 months down the line, they’re gonna change it again (Damn you Nike!).

Anyway, since there is not nearly the selection in shoes made specifically for triathlon, this seems like a good thing even if there are no special distinguishing features, price, etc. One more choice.

I love the Lunaracers too and I’ll wear them in my next race – but when I wore them at Mooseman wth no socks, they gave me some nasty blisters. Gotta use socks with them in long course.

uli, their are quite a few differences, but the biggest difference is the amount of cushioning in the shoe itself. most race shoes (even a lot of lightweight trainers) have a very minimal eva sockliner and no cushioning layer between the sockliner and the midsole (you can look under the sockliner and you will usually find just the stitching of the upper to the midsole) our racing flat not only has superfom in the sockliner, (superfom is similar to the material yoga mats are made of, it has memory and doesn’t compress like eva) but the k-ruuz also has a full cushion layer strobel board under the sockliner that is also superfom. so even though the shoe is ultralight, around 6 ounces, it has more cushioning than any other flat out there. also has fantastic drainage and breathability so that if you start the race at 6 ounces, you finish the race at 6 ounces. hope this helps.
