How are they doing this? For each new IM they add they seem to add an additional 75-85 slots or so.
Are they siphoning slots from other races, reducing charity, lottery and celibrity slots or increasing the size of the world championship?

Most of the half Ironmans will lose their slots over time. Also the new T1 (not on the pier) aparently has much more room for growth.
We were back on the pier last year. Are we back to the parking lot this year? I can’t keep up with the T1 changes, heh.

I hope not – I saw the effect that had on the KKT.
They also reducing the number in big races. IMLP use to have 100 spots this year only 80, so it’s a mix of two removing spots from half ironman and reducing in the big races.
Sorry, I was not there…I just assumed that they moved it in 2003 and were keeping it at the parking lot.
In otherwords not only are people getting faster, but there are fewer slots per race? Kinda what I thought. So qualifing going to be a bit tougher?

That’s the name of the game…only the best show to the worlds championship!
If you guys think is hard to qualify for Hawaii ask a few of the gals. Often they only have 1 or 2 spots per age-group. So we are lucky to have 8, 9 or even 10 in some age group categories. (I know how the Kona spot are split so isn’t not worth to explain me)
