New Ironman Perform Drink

The info says “will be on the course for IM 70.3 and Ironman Lake Placid…such and such…etc.” What will volunteers yell? “Perform!” “Ironman!” " PowerBar Sports drink!"

the word Gatorade, in our culture, has become similar to words like Jello, Kleenex, Trojan and Coke. I have to wonder if Ironman will instruct volunteers passing out drinks during the race to say “WTC Ironman PowerBar Perform Mixed Berry” and NOT Gatorade. Jeesh you’d be down the road before you figured out what they were giving you!

I am very open to trying it and I hope that they all taste good. Nestle’ is a great company and one of my friends works as a district manager. I can’t wait to hear his opinion on it all. I’ve used the Recovery Drink for years.

If it tastes horrible then you might see a revolt right on a race course.

I’ve done races where volunteers have no problem saying “Heed!” for Hammer products. Come to think of it, I’ve also heard just “Sports drink!”

Personally I’ll drink whatever sugar water they have on the course as long as it doesn’t make me sick, it’s all the same stuff to me. Can’t say everyone else feels the same way, but I wouldn’t count on a revolt unless the stuff turns out to be poison or something…

I was in one of their taste tests several months back and they were supremely specific about when/how it was to be consumed - at race intensity for a rather long duration. I found the taste too be very good - light with no after taste and it was nice on my stomach. I hope others find it works for them as well. Life is easier when you love what’s being served on a long course and ultra distance race.

Nestle’ is a great company

perhaps you might want to do some research. that is, if this is the same company involved in the baby food industry.
