New IPOD SHUFFLE

thought my old one was small. i’ve run tons with it. the lil unit has taken on lots of sweat and still works great. but check out the new one: check out the size and features

Got one a few weeks ago it ROCKS!!! This is my first shuffle and it is great so far I do have a few questions about how long the earphones with the remote on them will last but everything good so far!

I wish I could use my favorite headphones. With the new shuffle, you need to use ones with Apple’s remote.

bought one a while ago and love it - only complaint is that the ear buds so not stay in my odd shaped ear canals, when I am mobile -
.

do they not have other headphone choices that work with different shaped ears? bummer, i cannot use apple headphones w/o discomfort.

Yeah, it is pretty cool. I have an old iPod classic, iPod touch, 2nd gen shuffle and the new super minute one. I DO like the Apple headphones, so for me it is OK. There are several companies rumored to be releasing headphones with the controls on it. I really like it since you can hide it and control the music easily via the little headphone cord dongle.

i would lose that in my pocket.

Someone please update when Sennheiser or one of the other headphone manufacturers comes out with some new ones for the new iPod shuffle. I’m holding out until these are available.

My girlfriend and I burned through 3 (and it looks like 4 soon) 2nd gen Shuffles.

Ours did not like sweat at all.

For a product marketed to ‘active’ people, it should have been much more water resistant.

sorry to hear that. been lucky here, living in florida and being a heavy sweater. have owned the 2nd gen. unit for almost 2yrs now i think. usually keep it on the brim of my hat when running or on the outside of jersey pocket when cycling… i wouldn’t submerse it nor be out in the rain though…

x2 on this one…Apple needs a new earbud design…or something to retrofit onto theirs that fit everyman.

I’ve burned through a 1st Gen Shuffle and got a 2nd at Christmas. The 2nd Gen won’t hold a charge anymore, but took it to Apple store this a.m. and they will replace for free. Tried to get them to give me credit towards the new 3rd Gen one, but no go. I did play with one while in the store and loved it. I’ll probably end up getting one anyway. I like the idea of being able to control from the cord. Cool. 4X the memory and 1/2 the size and 5X the cool factor!! I am a huge Apple fan and their customer service is awesome. If you have many Apple products get the ProCare package ($100/yr) and it quickly pays for itself through any customer service issues. I have 2 Macs, 4 iPods and love em!

I’ve had good luck with my last one. I would clip it to the back of my hat, or even my watch band.

It was doing good, but recently it started acting up. The charge indicator led doesn’t light up any more. I think I dripped some sweat on it while it was on the treadmill. :frowning:

I have the same problem with the earphones that come with any ipod. These look like they might be a bit better. Might have to get a new shuffle now…

I had to replace my 2nd generation shuffle last week with a new 3rd generation. After just two workouts, my shuffle will no longer turn on. I was on the bike and all the sudden volume when to full max and I could not control it. I had to turn it off, and ride with no tunes. When I got home I tried to turn it on and resolve the issue, but no response. The shuffle has been restored and I have totally drained and recharged the battery. Still no luck. I am taking it back today as a very unhappy customer.

I will say that for those of you looking for good earphones compatible with it, try the new in-ear buds from Apple, they cost $79 but they have three different size silicon ear buds so that you can find your optimal fit to your ear.

Hopefully I will get a solid replacement, because I sweat alot and that seemed to be the demise of this first unit.

mine did the exact same thing except my volume got stuck on a low setting. Got my replacement this morning. I will let you know how it works.

As a warning to new 3rd generation shuffle owners. Set your maximum volume a bit lower in iTunes so you dont get blasted like I did going about 40 mph. This will prevent your eardrums from bursting should your shuffle malfunction due to sweat!

other companies are making apple compatable earbuds. See www.electronista.com You will have to go back 2 or 3 weeks ago to see the substitutes

Here is a third part adapter, but it is not available yet. It would allow you to use other earphones.

So how are people liking the 3rd generation shuffle?

I have been through 3 so far. The third time I just returned them and got my money back. It’s a shame because when it works it works really great. It’s nice to have playlists but I’ll have to hold out until this device can live up to the active lifesytle hype. This was a bday gift too…No matter…I have a pair of DeSoto Forza shorts on order to replace the hole left in my accessory list
