I have to get a new helmet. Right now I have giro pneumo and the foam has started to crack, even though I’ve never crashed in it. It’s about 4 years old anyway. I was planiing on a Giro Atmos, possibly an Ionos, but then I thought why not a Catlike? There’s a guy on Ebay selling them, but they are $259 compared to $159 for an Ionos or $129 for an Atmos.
Anybody have one? Are they worth that much cash? I’m having trouble making a decision. It’s hard to put a price on the wow factor.
You might ask the ebay seller if he can tell you the date in the helmet. A lot of helmet sold there are new old stock and might already be several years old when you get it.

It’s listed as a 2009, and the pictures are of the newest model, though they are just tsock photos. The feedback from buyers is all positive, but a couple make it sound like there was a delay in shipment or some other problem with the transaction that had to be addressed.
You can order a Catlike from http://www.prendas.co.uk/ shipped to the US for a lot less. They are out of stock right now and stock seems to be erratic but I have ordered one from them.
If you live in the US and plan to wear this in a USAT sanctioned event, I’d think twice about it.
“On the safety front it has CES technology which is crash energy splitter and has adjustable rear retention and a inner pin rear retention receiver, the Whisper meets the European safety standard EN 1078, depending on where you live you have to check out if this meets your countries requirements. In America the Whisper does not meet CPSC standards, but U.S. Cycling has added the European helmet standard to its approved list.”
I think the Catlike looks really cool and is probably pretty nice to ride with however I would wait a couple of years for them to get US approval and start selling in the States or for the price to go down to match the Giros. I would stick with the proven Giros for now. You could buy a good training helmet and a TT helmet for the price.
