In the Interbike 2003 article Dan wrote about new HED wheels ($550 clincher disc, all-carbon 3D, SpeedAce all carbon wheel):
http://www.slowtwitch.com/cgi-bin/parse.pl?file=../web/mainheadings/product2003/interbike2004.html&text=interbike
Did you hear more about this wheels? Are this only prototypes or can we soon buy them?
HED’s website http://www.hedcycling.com seems quite old and not updated regularly (Recent Race Results: Ironman World Championships - Hawaii - October 19, 2002).

I picked up a new HED brochure on the UK side of things recently and this contained what you might be on about. HED are producing ‘ultralight’ versions of the H3 by the looks of things. No idea in terms of release date because their UK website is like yours - well out of date.

What is the link to the UK website?
Thanks, Felix
I just got a answer from HED UK:
We have the speedace but the disc isn’t out until mid 2004.
Felix
R&A Cycles has the new speed ace wheels as well

In their 2nd mail I got more info and the new HED. 04 catalog with more details:
The Speedace wheel for 2004 will be called “Stinger V5.0” We are not able to use the speedace brand in europe.
Carbolite Disc:
New for 2004 will be our all new carbonlite disc. Due into production around the middle of May 2004 this all carbon tubular fitting wheel will join our carbonlite h3 front wheel as the ultimate in lightweight wheels for pro level competition. Weight will be around 950g for a 700c tubular wheel
H3 Carbonlite:
Our newest wheel for 2004. The all new carbon H3 wheel came about when the top teams in the pro peloton simply asked us to make our H3 lighter for the hillier time trials, in the 3 main tours.
The result? The lightest most aerodynamic non spoked wheel in the world! Simple and perfect for against the clock performance. Available in limited numbers from February 2004. Only tubulars. 700c front 670g / rear 830g
Stinger (speddace): MODEL OVERVIEW. Our Stinger range has been re-launched and re-designed for 2004 with elite level competition very much in mind. A choice of three rim depths, lets riders select the most suitable model for their preferred discipline, each offering the perfect balance between optimum stiffness and minimum weight.

Anyone have an idea on the price of the new Stinger/SpeedAce all-cabon wheels? Dan mentioned in his Interbike article that they are cheaper to produce then the Alps, do you think Hed will decide to take over the market and price them under $1K or will they make a killing on profit and price them about $1200 like the other all carbons out there?

I have a Stinger 90mm rear and that wheel is fast, crazy fuc*ing fast.

HED UK wrote that the price for the speedace / stinger V5.0 is £549 inc VAT. That would be about abot U$950 / EUR790.
Prices may be different in North America.

Gary put the HED2004.pdf on the http://www.timetrial.org to downolad.

Here is the UK price list for 2004:
Disc: Standard £449, Superlite £499, new Carbonlite £549
new Stinger Carbonlite: V2.5 £275/349, V3.8+V5.0 £299/379
H3 £379/449, new H3 Carbonlite £449/499
The prices in US seems much better. A H3 front costs U$452 and the rear H3 $528. And a standard disk is $550. With the current exchange rate this is much cheaper.
Why is HED UK that much more expensive?
