I completed a 14 mile run(my longest to date) last Friday on a mostly hard surface trail. The next day my left knee was as tight as a drum! The pain/tightness is centered on the back side of my knee. Is this related to to my ITB? Has anyone experienced this type of pain?
Sounds more like a fluid/Bakers cyst type thing. Does it hurt when you squat like a catcher?
Too much, too soon?
See a doc if you can. If not lay off till the pain is gone, then work back into it.

Feels like it could be some sort of fluid build up, seems to tighten up after long efforts on hard surfaces then loosen over the next few days. I had the same thing happen after an Olympic event on concrete at the end of last season. At only 26 yrs old Im amazed at the damaging effects of increased running mileage on hard surfaces. I’m realizing it(injury) is all part of the journey toward an Ironman. Thank you for the help.
