New Ford Ironman 70.3 Amelia Island?

anyone know anything about this race in sept? http://www.powerbar.com/PartnersEvents/Events.aspx

i haven’t heard anything official except this on the pwr bar site…

thanks

P-Bar web site says this…very interesting! I hope it’s true…anyone?
9/14/2008 Amelia Island, FL Ford Ironman 70.3 Amelia Island

On the same map, check out the middle of the country - there’s the “Ford Ironman Kansas” - looks like that race grew fast!

Oh, no! All those people that trained for a 1/2!

bump for west coast crowd
.

Looks like we will have to have everyone do each course twice on June 15th to get the 140.6 miles! Z

While on the topic of new FL races, just got an email re: **Powerman FLORIDA **(this is a duathlon) to be held in San Antonio, FL October 4, 2008. www.powermanflorida.com

I live 30 mminutes from Amelia Island and would sign up for this race right now
.

hey andy, what are the distances for the tri in san anto? couldn’t find anything on the site…
thx

I hope that race happens. Great area to have a race and being Sept. it would be a great Fall race leading up to Clearwater.

found it here: http://www.powermanflorida.com/pmregister.php
.

Ditto. What are Powerman distances?

Sorry, should’ve clarified that the POWERMAN series refers to DUATHLONS. I only know this because that’s where I got my start several years back at PM TN, then Alabama. Ok ok, I know, wrong forum…but I figure there are probably a handful of du people hanging around. Believe it’s 8k, 55k, 8k (or close to that).

Powerman followed by a long ride might be a great training day 4 weeks out from IMFL. I’m in.

Tom Z, can you confirm the Amelia Island 70.3?

Ditto. What are Powerman distances?

8k 52.8k 8k

for the non metric users that is

5miles 32.7miles 5miles

Yes, it is a great location. I grew up in the Blount Island/Oceanway area. Amelia Island would be a great venue especially since A1A has been paved all the way out to Talbot Island and the Jetties.

NO Amelia Island Ironman 70.3 race for this year. Powerbar will be taking that off their site.

There will be a new Ironman 70.3 race in that region next fall, but not on Amelia Island. Press Release will be coming out soon. (It’s a GREAT site and a fantastic city - sorry that’s all I can say)

Charleston…???
