New Dura-Ace 7900 directional chain

Will the new Dura-Ace 7900 directional chain work well with a 2008 Dura-Ace drive train (7800 FD and RD, 6600 Ultegra Cassette)?

I checked the Shimano website and Shimano Technical PDF’s for the chain and can’t find anything.

Appears so, as long as you install it in the correct direction.
I wonder if such design has been implemented with Shimano’s XTR?

as far as I know, the xtr has not changes, still just a basic 9spd chain.

Just curious what you mean by “directional chain”. I have the new Dura Ace 7900 and didn’t realize that there was a special way that the chain goes on. I also don’t see any mention of it on Shimano’s site or directions on how to install the chain. I am having some problems with the chain slipping going from the small to big chainring but assumed that had more to do with the FSA chinrings I’m using.

The FSA chainrings were awful when i had them. I had the aero one. I got rid of it in like a month cause i could never bump up to the big ring.

it’s ez- one side has no engravings / one side has engraved logos… engraved letters/logos face away from frame and face you as you look at it from drive side…

Is anyone running the new 7900 chain on 7800 drivetrain?

Worth the $20 difference over the 7801?

I need a new chain and have seen no feedback, only compatibilty questions…

it doesn’t make a sound but willl smell twice as bad.
