Morning, folks, and greetings from Musselman Headquarters. Back a couple months ago, when Dan was soliciting suggestions for a venue for USAT Nats, several people named Watkins Glen, NY as a possibility. Being only a half hour from Watkins, that inspired me to check things out down there.
Turns out the town is perfect for a different kind of race: a duathlon on the speedway! I’d like to announce the Fly by Night Formula 1 duathlon, to be held June 4th. The race will happen in the Saturday evening of Porsche Clash Weekend, and the entry fee includes a 3-day ticket to the car races. The 3-lap bike course will take place entirely on the Glen’s 3.4-mile looping, twisting, rising, and falling racetrack, and the run will take you on a 1.4-mile loop of the infield and over the track. Aid station will be in pit row.
