I will be purchasing a new disc wheel set in the next month or two. I had a zipp set and sold it last year. I am open to other suggestions than zipp. Any input out there on what set to get.
Thank all

what did you not like about the Zipp?
are you looking for clincher or tub?
is weight a concern?
does it matter if you have alu or carbon braking?
Zipp could arguably be called the gold standard. What more are you looking for now than you had then?
And when you say “disc set” you surely don’t mean a disc for the front. Just thought I’d throw that out there.
I was thinking going with clincher tires. The zipp was great. I was just wondering actually what people think about bang for your buck being that zipp is up there in price.
bang for buck? get one of the 08 Hed Jet Clincher discs. $999 MSRP doesn’t get much more bang than that.
The options for good clincher discs are pretty limited at this point. Aside from Hed, there are only:
There are a whole lot of comparable quality clincher discs like PRO, Planet X, Reynolds Element etc etc
The Corima is the only one i have first hand knowledge of, and i have to say i was very impressed with it. The max tolerable psi is fairly low at 120psi, but i’m small so i never run that much pressure anyway. It’s considered an affordable disc in the UK but my understanding is that Corima is not cheap in the US, hence its lack of popularity.
next question I have is what wheel would you put up front to pair up with the rear disc. And, yes I know the disc does not go up front.
that’s a… very broad question.
it depends on your bike handling skills, your weight, the kind of courses you like, your budget, your fork…
