I have been farting with it all afternoon…never had a problem with 9 speed …I can’t get the it to shift onto the 11 cog…it is an 11-23 set up…shifts great until I get to the 11 cog…exept it is in effect a 9speed …ack!
I have always done most of my own maintenance…I guess I may be off to ALL3Sports for some guidance…
I just set up a brand new Record 10 kit on the Ultimate - no problems at all - ha ha ha!!!
15.2lbs - total!
I hope I am not being patronizing by mentioning that you could try to back out your stop screw slightly for the high end. You may have a slightly too high starting cable tension as well.
Good luck!!
That would only alter the top gear, not the next two down.
What can I say? Should have got Campy!
What Toddler said, and make sure your derailleur cable isn’t adjusted too tight.

You really are an ass h_le…
You are probably correct…it is not the equipment it is in fact the mechanic…Thanks
.
Just took this pic with an Axis security camera at the office, Hi Res to come…
two ways of doing it…either start again by puitting the chain on the small plate, say the 39 and the top gear, the 11 in this case and check cable tension…if it’s tight then it should be okay, if not tighten it here…this should solve the problem.
If that does not work you need to adjust the travel of the derailleur by turning the H screw anti clockwise, H for High gear…to allow it to travel to the 11 cog…by turning it with a screw driver as you pedal with the free hand you will move the derailleur and allow it to go into the 11 cogs.
Should be easy enough…
That would only alter the top gear, not the next two down.
I think you got this confused with the “other” 10 speed mechanical problem post. This guy is only having problems with his smallest cog. The other guy (can’t remember who) was having problems with his three largest cogs skipping.
Are ya too busy hanging out with the oak box in your furnace room to read the post closely? grin
Thanks!
Thanks for the help…shifts better than Campy now… ![]()
so which one solved the problem…the cable tension or the H screw?

Cable tension…I had it too tight. ;-0
In my many years playing bike Tech - I have found (with John Barnetts class as training) that you can set the limits of both Der. with out even having a cable on the bike. I did that with my Record yesterday. You can just use your hands to try to jam the Der. into the spokes (being sure not to) set the inside limit and away you go.
I usually set the limit screws with the chain off and the cable off. Isn’t that standard operating procedure?
That is what I thought…who knows…
