WTF is up with that run? Geezy peezy that is a mess…

Challenge should dump the 140.6 and just focus on the 70.3 distance.

It actually looks pretty simple. Up and down the boardwalk a few times. Done.

The swim is going to be a bit tough if there is a current.
The bike will be much improved, I prefer one loop. I just hope that the roads are in better shape than last year
The run is fine, ultimately two loops…IMAZ used to be three loops and that was rough heading into the last loop.

Provided I am still in the NJ-area I will be signing up for it.

Agreed on the swim. That long straight part was the worst part last year. Now you do it twice. I’d expect some slower swim times.

Bike looks nice. Only bad roads last year were on part of the Hammonton Loop (or whatever that town was called).

The run is good for spectators and people (it looks a lot worse than it is). I may do the half and see how it goes.

i will probably sign up for the full in the spring. no rush on this one.

At least they got rid of the 30 miles on the ACE. Only worry is, now we don’t know the road quality of the replacement roads!

Might do the full aquabike again next year - they addressed basically the things that I would have stayed away over.

The swim now looks like exactly the same course they use for the AC Tri - didn’t the course go “up” the map further into the bay at last year’s CAC?

It went all the way up to the bridge, took a left for a while, then eventually came back to what you see now in the new course. It was like a big weird “Y”. Not a bad course, just a lot of swimming into the current. I was about 15 min slower than expected. I didn’t really care other than thinking “I’ve been out here a long time…”.

Plenty of passes by the casino to wave at my grandparents on the penny slot machines!

In reality its not that bad. Its just laps of the boardwalk. Seems like it would be boring at first but its actually quite fun and keeps you in a crowd of people the whole time for mental support. Also running on wood really helps cut down the pain.

They made the swim much easier. Too bad. It was pretty challenging.

Easier swim and the run course will essentially be the same (multiple loops but great for your family and friends, and the boardwalk is much easier on your legs than pavement).

The bike courses are going to be lonely. It goes through about the most rural part of NJ and there is just nothing there. Great flat roads to bike on though, depending on what this winter does to them. The half bike course goes through much of the same area as the Shoreman half, for a much higher price. Yes Challange is much more of an event and the Challenge run is on the boardwalk vs the run through Port Republic in Shoreman, but the Challenge half course just doesn’t excite me much.

I really do hope that this race does well, but the new bike course for the full is just not a positive improvement to the race in my book.
