I just got a new SRAM chain and cassette. I always try to clean the waxy grease off and put my lube on. What have folks found works best?...wrenches please pipe in...

This whole issue comes up on ST about every 2 months, it seems.
My mechanic says to remove the factory grease. It is just a preservative to keep the chain from rusting in storage and shipping. Replace it with something like Prolink.
Yup - the stuff is called Cosmolene.
Not a lubricant at all.
Strip it off w/ Simple Green or any bike degreaser then Prolink it like Tri bri said.
With that said, not sure if the higher end chains like Wipps come coated w/ the same stuff.
