I’m confused that Specialized is listed as the bike sponsor, but in the pic, both bikes are BMC…
Nice catch and good question.
Mark Allen is speaking in Boulder tonight, and if I see someone from the team I’ll ask them about it.
BMC is/was on board in the begining but Specialized is the BCSM sponsor…
JTRock, any comment on this?
I’ve heard the name a couple of times. Look forward to racing with you!
Also, I suggest you guys grab some cheeseburgers. Quick.
Hey all,
Thanks to Roman for the post. Hopefully we will be doing a podcast with Everymantri himself soon and be able to give you all the info.
So, to answer your question…well…yes, we were with BMC…and then we weren’t. It’s a long story but let it be known that starting a pro tri team during the worst economic downturn in history is difficult at best. That said, the team motto has become, “if we do it now we will only be stronger from the effort when things improve”.
Thus, it looks like Specialized will be the new bike sponsor. They had sponsored us for helmets, shoes, saddles, and some other gear from the start and have done all they can to help us out with bikes as well. And that’s quite a challenge, again, considering the economy and thier new involvement with Saxo Bank and several other factors. But the big S has been a huge help and are really excited about the tri scene.
Considering all the eagle eyes on slowtwitch we better get some new pics up, eh?
And, yes considering our partnership with BCSM the Specialized connection is convienient.
Like I said we are hoping to do a podcast to get more info out there, but for now the basics are that we have kind of reverse engineered this thing. The pros are 4 athletes who were training together at RallySport in Boulder with the RACE swim club under coach Grant Holicky. I have had the team idea in the back of my head for several years and have made a couple of feeble attempts to pull it together. But, the stars aligned this time.
I have been around the block enough to know now what I should have known then and the team is just a real good match and a great dynamic. Add to that the fact that Lance Panigutti started a race production company, Without Limits Productions, two years ago and we had a unique opportunity to create a team with a built in event connection. See: http://www.dailycamera.com/news/2008/dec/17/for-some-working-out-is-getting-cut/ and the Oct 21st post on our website, www.withoutlimitsracing.com.
This gave us a great platform to build a team off of. As many of you might know, right now sponsors are looking for more then just logo placement and race results. Triathletes, and athletes on the whole, are being held to a higher standard, we need to do more for our sponsors. This is the fundamental goal and design of Without Limits Racing, to truly address the needs of the sponsors while creating opportunities for promotion of the sport, a healthy lifestyle, as well as our athletes themselves. I suppose in the end it is just accepting the responsibilities of being true professional athletes.
Thus, we are hoping to build a program which attracts new athlets to triathlon, helps them develop, provides top notch events and clinics, provides a fun, attractive, and affordable atmosphere, and provides a few pros who are on the same page the necessities and opportunity to really kick some ass.
I could go on and on here, but I don’t want to bore you. If you’re in the CO area I hope you’ll check out our events we will have four triathlons with the possibility of a fifth, including the Harvest Moon Half Ironman which is an official Half-Max qualifier. We will also have six open water swim events at Cherry Creek Res, as well as numerous clinics throughout the year.
Thing are still falling into place right now, but I hope to have things sorted soon and will be sure to post an official team press release and presentation. What I can tell you is that the events are 100% on and most of the team will be in Tucson for TriFest in a few weeks.
Thanks for the interest everybody and feel free to let me know if you have more questions.
Oh, and while we have some stuff in the works if anyone knows of a title sponsor opportunity feel free to shoot that my way as well.
Jimmy
Team Director, Without Limits Racing
Well, it’s not a title sponsor or anything, but I found your Guatamala jersey packing today. drop me a line if you want it…
Good on ya Jimmy. Hope the team kicks ass this year. From the blogs it sounds like you’ll be in good shape for the season. Kristen looks like her cycling is going to be wicked. That should be fun to watch! out of the water easy with a lead, hammer away on the bike… who the hell could run her down with those weapons? 8000y days will sure catch you up on the swim too. Of course, having the best swim coaching in Boulder wont hurt.
Good luck! See you around
My Guatamala Jersey? I had a Guatamala Jersey?
I think it’s guatamala. White mesh jersey with green lettering. I thought it was yours… that you traded some dude for?
Don’t think it’s mine. I can’t remember anything like that. It’s all yours if you want in my opinion.
Thanks for asking though.
Jimmy
