New Bike: Avanti V Felt

Hi All,

Long time reader of the forum, first time poster.

I am looking getting a bike, I have been riding a mates Giant TCR 2, but he decided he wanted it back. So I have it narrow down to 2 a Felt F80 and an Avanti Vivace. I am looking to spend around the 1500 aussie dollars.

Anyone have anything good or bad to say that would help me in choosing which bike.

thanks

Jason

I am biased.

Get the Felt! (I own 4 of them). They seem to be the best value for the dollar. I think Slowman has an article on that topic

I’d opt for the Felt also, I’m extremely biased and us statsiders are not likely to have an opinion on Avanti as they are not sold here (USA).

Have never owned or ridden either a Felt or Avanti, so I can only tell you what my friends have told me. So take this for what it’s worth. A friend of mine who previously owned a Felt, two bikes ago, still raves about his Felt. He still talks about wanting to get another felt someday. He’s riding a Kestrel KM40 now, loves the bike, but was very happy with his Felt.

Now on to the Avanti. My former coach and very good friend lives and trains in Cairns up in north Queensland. Probably half of his crew races on Avanti. They love them. He tried to get my wife to buy one because her Principia was too big for her.

So, I guess I’m probably not much here. Having just looked at both websites, the other thing to consider is are you looking for a triathlon specific bike, or a road bike? Felt looks to have more options with the option of 700c vs 650c whereas the Avanti offers only one Tri-frame with 700c.

Good luck with your search.
