I am looking for some advice about a new bike. I am in my second year of training and ready to make the jump onto a tri specific bike. I have narrowed my search to a Cervelo, but I am torn between the P2SL or jump up to the P2C. Any advice out there?
Why don’t you go for a P2SL with race wheels?
For the $$$ of a p2c, you can probably get a P2sl with some nice fast race wheels. That will most likely end ip being faster than a p2c.
The more I think about it, the more I am leaning towards the p2sl. The only problem is that the p2sl Pro is only 600 dollars cheaper than the p2c. Isn’t it worth the 600 bucks to upgrade to the p2C?
P2C without a doubt. If you can afford it why not go for it? If you are in your second season of training, I’m going to assume that you aren’t really that worried about “fast wheelsets”, unless you were a professional cyclist before doing tris- in which case someone would give you a bike and wheelset(here comes the slowtwitch wheelset machine to chime in).
I always err on the side of buying the best bike you can afford, that way you are not always wishing you had the next model up. It’s a lot cheaper in the long run to get the bike you want the first time.
The new color on the other hand…inspired by kotex. I hope you can get a blue/black one.
I agree with you on the color, I am not sure it will ever grow on me. I am going to get fit tomorrow afternoon on both bikes and see which one feels best. Going to be hard to turn down th P2C.
Buy the P2SL and with the $600 extra, buy an aero helmet if you want time savings.
Buy a Dual, some good race wheels and an aero helmet.
Spend the rest on some swimming lessons.
Nothing worse than seeing a 3K machine sitting in Transition alone :-).
