New Bike! (5)

Last night, after months of cajoling my wife, I was finally able to pull the trigger on an '08 Cervelo P2C! I got lucky and ended up getting one of the early bikes that had the FSA SLK Carbon crankset instead of the FSA Gossamer. Can’t complain about that. I went ahead and upgraded the brake levers to the carbon Blackwell Research C-128’s which have a return spring unlike the stock Dia Compe 188’s. I’m not a huge fan of the seat so I’ll probably try the SMP Evolution and the Fizik Arione. Since it is my first tri bike, and actually the first bike I have ever ridden in a TT position, they started me out with a few spacers that they will remove incrementally as they help me tweak my position once I determine my comfort level on longer rides. So now I have a new motivation to work hard in my yoga class. I’ll try to post some pictures (of the bike, not the yoga class) later.

Big thanks to Cadence Cycle in Saline, MI for their excellent service.

Congrats on the new ride.

Remember, take it easy on the aerobars for the first few weeks. No high speed turns on them yet!

Wait a second. Your wife WANTED you to buy a new expensive bike and it still took you months to pull the trigger?

I’ll trade you. I don’t care what she looks like.

Perhaps I mis-typed in the OP… What I meant to convey was that it took me months of work trying to convince her that I should get a new bike. She finally caved over the weekend and, not wanting to seem too hasty, I waited until Thursday to buy the bike. Even so I’m not looking for a trade

It says he took months “cajoling” his wife. Where did you read she WANTED him to get the bike?

Congrats on the new bike! I have a P2C and love it.

Any idea if those Blackwell levers are compatible with the Vision carbon base bar? I’d be interested to hear if you like them. I have the Vision carbon base bar, and the vision levers. I can’t stand the Vision levers because they don’t have a return spring and they rattle like crazy. Seems like the Blackwell levers would be a good swap if they are compatible.

Sweet!

Let us know how you like the brake levers. I have the stock ones and I hate them… cheap garbage if you ask me.

I’m assuming you were talking to DaveV, right? I haven’t been lucky enough to pull the trigger on a P2C yet…mostly because I want the new Ordu…

Yep, sorry.

Congrats on the new bike! I have a P2C and love it.

It depends on whether you have the normal 22mm size or the larger 24mm base bar. From looking at Vision’s website their aero brake levers are built to fit the 22mm but they have an adapter for the 24mm. Based on that, the Blackwell levers are also made for 22mm bars. So I’m pretty sure that they would fit into the carbon base bar, but you’ll have to measure or look it up to be sure.

I’ll definitely post a review of the brake levers once I have some more miles on the bike…with 4-8 inches of snow predicted tonight it probably won’t be soon :frowning:

I guess I’m just a moron. I read an extra “by” in there.

you shouldlook alsobat the SRAM carbon levers…

Very nice feel
