Hi guys…Need some help.
Both of my POLAR HR Monitors (watches) have died. I am thinking I need to send them in (?) to get a new battery put in? Or, have any of you heard of taking them to a jeweler and having them replace the batteries. Any advice?

I thought, “no problem”, I can change this myself. What’s four little screws and a battery? Despite being very careful replacing the seal on my S710, the first time in a pool, I watched the display immediately flood with water. While it made a great excuse to buy a S610 and have both running and cycling sensors, it was an expensive mistake! The last time, I sent it in to the service center in LA, but was a bit disappointed with their turnaround time. Despite authorizing expedited freight, they failed to send it back Fedex and the entire process took about 10 days.
How much was it to have them replace it?
I did it with better luck with an S120. However, I have a friend try to change his polar to his disappointment. Next time, I will send it in just in case.
Ask your local tri club where they get theirs done. I used to send mine in. Then asking around the club, I fould out there is 1 jeweler here in Chicago that replaces and reseals. Sure saves lots of money and time.
Had the watch place at the mall replace the battery in my “old” one. Seemed like a great plan until I wore it in the pool then not so much. I recently sent one to the Polar service place on long island for a new battery. They replaced it for free even though it had been 1 1/2 years and had it back to me in about 2 weeks. Also the paperwork said that they did some update on it. Has not done the freezing up thing it has in the past, but then it has not been that long.
I just went through this recently. I’ve also been using hr since 1993 & have experience with several of the Polar service centers. NY is slow & never gets additional things I want ordered with it like elastic straps right. At there suggestion for faster turn around I tried the LA center. That was really slow as well. I’ve fastest turn around time & people who seem to really know what they are doing is the Creative Health Products in Michigan.
I’d recommend that over a watch jeweler. the service center cks the seals etc so you know its right.

I live about 15 miles from Creative Health Products and have walked in their place. Very professional and quick.
That said I’ve replaced batteries in my S120 and my RS200 myself with no issues.

I am fortunate that I can walk my HRMs into Creative Health Products www.chponline.com, www.polarservicecenter.com. I get next day turn around by Polar trained and authorized technicians.
A new battery, with testing of the watch and chest strap (if you send it in), is about $17. Not a bad investment in a $200-$300 HRM.
