New balance shoes

I’m sorry to post such a terrible question, but i’m near the end of my rope.
I ran in the New Balance 826 for over a year, the shoe was great for me and I loved it. I recently went to buy another pair and found out that the shoe is now discontinued… i’m searching for another shoe of similar fit. I can do less weight, but my foot shape is odd and the 826 had the perfect blend for my feet. If anyone has any suggestions I would be forever grateful.
Just as a disclaimer. I realize how individual shoe fit is, what i’m asking is if any other 826 diehards found a shoe they like just as much as the beloved 826… may they rest in peace

I had exactly the same experience lately. I’ve been wearing these shoes since the original 825s in 1998 and was very unhappy to hear the line is now dead.

THey put me in 1026s, a bigger shoe, but I am a fat old fart now so I’m probably due more insole anyway. I can’t tell any difference in the fit, but they are definitely heavier with a little more stability too.

I have now switched to the NB 1063 and absolutely love it! It is a neutral shoe and the cushioning is amazingly comfortable. Not the lightest shoe, but it fits my foot perfectly.

Rule #1 of shoes… any shoe that you can apply the L word too you buy as many as possible when you see them, then twice as many when they’re on clearance sale. Three times as many when they’re discontinued. Depending on what size you need it looks like there’s plenty available online.

I don’t know about the 826. I ran in the 1062 last year due to my apparently odd shaped foot (more straight/square than banana). I demo’d the 1063s early last month and thought it was a fantastic improvement… I just want to do something different this year. I’m on my third different pair of shoes this year

Check joesnewbalanceoutlet.com if nothing else…

I went to the local running store and they put me on a 1062 neutral stability shoe. Again, not the lightest but by far the best shoe I have ran in so far.

Thanks for the help. Unfortunatly a heavier shoe is not an option for me, for some reason the more support and weight a shoe has the more prone to injury I am… go figure. I’ll have to rember the “narrow and square” foot type for future use, this describes me perfectly

Hey,

We must be living in a parallel universe. I’ve been running in NB 825/826 for my last 6 pairs of training shoes. I’ve been desperately trying to find a replacement to no avail. I even contacted the NB rep, and she said to try the 903s, which are more of a longer distance flat. The problem with NB in my area, is that they seem to be expensive, so I’ve gone another route. I recently bought a pair of saucony sinisters. They are light like the 826, but not quite as soft and comfy. The fit is not the same at all, but I don’t have any issues so far. I’ve been rotating them in between my LAST pair of 826’s (which have 800km or so on them). These have become my longer run shoes.

I’ve also been experimenting with wearing flats exclusively for shorter runs as I don’t seem to need much shoe. Other shoes I’ve bought in the last 4 weeks:

adidias adizero Ace - very comfy
Minuno revolver - some support in them compared to a true neutral - the jury is still out on this one
brooks T5 racer - awesome track/racing shoe. I contemplating using these for a sping HM.

My next shoe I’m going to try to the Asics hyperspeed 3 - it looks mininal and very flat (with some cushion) - and cheap.

You may want to try the Mizuno wave rider. I’ve heard good things about them, but I’ve never tried them.

All this to say I’ve given up on the NB shoes.
