New B2

Hey SuperDave:

I know you’re no puppet. I respect your knowledge and enthusiasm for this sport and always look forward to your posts, even when I’m being set straight about something. ; )

Keep up the good work,
Tripoet

I believe that th ewheels are drop shipped from Zipp. You should be able to choose what you want. You’re stuck with the clinchers. They come in the box with the bike.

I have read some of the posts and it is obvious that none of these people have spent any time on a Felt B2. I found a 2004 frame and fork as a leftover in my size, a 52c 650 and got it to use as a trainer as I could mimic the geometry of my Cervelo almost exactly. I build my own bikes and so I set off to make a trainer almost the same as my Cervelo. The only difference is that I used a set of Ksyrium Elite wheels instead of the HED 3’s on my P2(the original and never improved upon P2). The suprise was that I changed wheelsets around I found almost no diffenence in speed from one to the next. Its a little hard to quantify, but the Felt bike has an amazingly stiff ride, really fast, especially when in high RPM’s, say 95+ and a gear combination of say 50-15 or higher. The only other bike that has yeilded me that same feeling is my P2 and those are no longer for sale. Trust me I have tried them all, the other Cervelo’s, Principia, QR, Giant, you name it, in both aluminum and Carbon. the B2 was the biggest suprise I have found yet. I won a race one it 2 weeks ago in the pouring rain, with the Mavic Elites and just missed a PR. The B2 is a great choice. Forget what Zipp stickers come on the wheels and look to what matters, SPEED! My only complaint is all the stickers, it would not be possible to forget its a Felt, no matter what angle you look at it from. Its also very simple to put together. I would also recommend a set of FSA Mega Exo cranks Dejour, in ALUMINUM. My goodness are they ever stiff. Enjoy your bike.

Probably something I should also have mentioned. The 05 B2 uses a Carbon aero seat mast. They look cool but I am not a fan, here is why. I am travelling to Canada for a race, the 1000 Islands Tri and reassemble my bike out of the box. The carbon post is cracked from a clumsy bag guy. No problem, I have a 27.2mm seat post, I go to the local bike shop and $35 later I’m in business. Try that with a custom formed post. You are hosed. I went out and got an 04 frameset on purpose for just that reason as it uses a 27.2mm post.If you think that the aero post is faster I would disagree. It looks cool but it is between your legs in some raelly disturbed air flow, the shape means absolutly nothing. The forks that came with my 04 are a little heavier than the Eastons, but still very nice. The FSA integrated headset is the best integrated one I have ever used, you dont have to keep adjusting it at all. As for the Carbon rear end, they look cool, thats all. No difference in performance.
