Netflixers, have you tried the Roku?

I just saw this yesterday:
http://www.roku.com/default.aspx

I think it’s fantastic and am thinking about getting it. I already have Netflix and just realized how many movies I can watch here at my desk at work. I’ve wanted something similar to the Roku for my living room for some time now and have contemplated getting the AppleTV, ArchosTV, MythTV, and even the Wii.

The only drawbacks I can see (for the Roku) is that it doesn’t let you stream *any webstream and of course there is no DVR functionality. But, to stream a lot of movies that I’m already paying to have access to, it seems like a pretty good deal.

Have you tried it? What do you think about it?

You can also stream to an XBox 360, which is what pushed me to sign back up for NetFlix. It’s so nice to have your instant queue right there on the TV.

That’s awesome. It only works with those titles that are instantly available, correct? Still, that’s pretty cool. $99 isn’t bad.

I have a Blu-Ray DVD player that streams Netflix. It’s pretty cool, BUT… It’s not available for every movie on Netflix. There are only limited movies available for streaming to your player (there are quite a few, but not the entire Netflix catalog). It will be really great when you can stream all new releases.

I think it will be some time before you are able to stream all new releases, or likely there will be tiered pricing for new releases. Looking at my queue right now, about 15 are available (out of 57) for streaming… not bad, even Hell on Wheels is available!

I got one for Christmas and have yet to set it up. You can stream to your computer too and that’s what I did a couple times last year…and when I was stuck in airports for a few hour layover over Thanksgiving.

Keep in mind, only 10% of the Netflix inventory is available online and most of that is old TV shows from the US and Europe. I’m a netflix online user who views via a laptop but the content available is very limiting. I can only assume there are financial issues they can’t work out to get more inventory available.

the newest TiVO box has ability to stream Netflix and is obviously a DVR as well. Not that I would buy one as I think the new TiVO and their subscription service is way overpriced for the functionality it adds , but that is me. Just offering this up as another option…

Can do the same thing on HD Tivo’s. It’s pretty awesome.

I have the LG BD300. Is that what you have? I have not set up the network yet. How is the streaming quality? I am afraid that it will suck on my big TV.
