Neoprene arm warmers for the swim?

It occurred to me that I have never seen these. I did an internet search and didn’t find any.

Basically, could one use neoprene arm warmers with a sleeveless wetsuit to allow the use of that wetsuit in colder water? I suppose they could be made from the arms of an old wetsuit.

What would be the drawbacks? If they are sufficiently snug enough they should roll down while stroking. The shoulders would be exposed but that may be a good thing as mobility wouldn’t be restricted.

Or you could buy a Desoto and get two tops and a bottom for the price of one of the top of the line wetsuits.

Just HTFU and swim without sleeves. People swim the English channel and across the Great Lakes without wetsuits.

You will look like a moron with neoprene sleeves… Oh wait you are a triathlete, you are used to looking like a moron so make sure you have your compression socks on before the swim

you mean like these:

.

Quintana Roo makes a set. Or pair. Whatever. You can find them on trisports.com: http://trisports.com/quintana-roo-wetsuit-speedsleeves.html

Thinking back to a thread a few years ago, I recall some discussion about them being illegal in races. Can’t remember the reasoning, though.

I think you might be thinking of Tyr, or maybe one of the other swim manufacturers, who came up with something like that for competitive swimming. FINA must have ruled them illegal because I don’t think anyone ever used them.

Ah, my search was for arm warmers, not sleeves or speed sleeves.

Thanks.

Never said I was going to use them. Just wanted to know if they existed.

Besides, not everyone is chubbly.

That’s right!! No worries, I was just having a bit of fun with ya. My goal is to eventually oust SwimFan as the #1 Troll on this form but I need more practice. Gotta do more practice trolls…

No prob. It’s not a true ST post without at least one HTFU.

That would be called a full length wetsuit…
