Need somewhere to run - between Dallas and Austin

I’ve been traveling up to Dallas a lot on the weekends and am looking for a place between Austin and Dallas (within 25 min of I-35) to run. Ideally, it would be somewhere with 8-10mi of trails, but I don’t want to press my luck. A search for state parks turns up Mother Neff SP, just north of Temple. We tried stopping there yesterday with unfavorable results (park appeared to be semi-closed, maps do not reflect the actual trails, only about 3mi of actual trails). Any thoughts?

Cameron Park in Waco? They hold mountain bike and adventure races on the trails there. http://www.waco-texas.com/city_depts/parks/cameronpark.htm

Did you multiple yourself from the beginning of your post to the end?

Well, I am the one who wants to run, but my better half is the one who gets tricked into running once he finishes up racing.

We have Bastrop on our way back from races in Houston; we need an equivalent for Dallas.

Thanks Irondad!!! That looks like exactly what I wanted!!! Perfect!

Thank you!

I feel sorry for that better half of yours… Not fun when you get tricked into anything.
I am sure he enjoy suffering with you on the trails.

If you are into to trail running Cameron Park in Waco has a lot of good trails as evidenced at this web site

If not trail running, you can run along the Brazos River from Cameron Park all the way to Baylor which has a 3 mile loop around the campus.
Did both the trail runs and loop when my daughter went to school at Baylor. Just take the University Drive exit off I 35
Hope this helps,

Don’t feel sorry for him. He’s a dirty roadie.
