I am thinking on getting an 09 e-114…my only concern is the portliness of the bike. The frame weighs just over 4.5 pounds I believe…is a bike of this weight ok for someone who only weighs about 145 on race day, or should I be leaning towards a lighter bike?
anyone? bump for afternoon crowd
so an 18lb bike?
I have no idea how much the bike weighs as a complete bike.
weight is meaningless in TT bike. You will still be able to build it in the 20-21lbs range with race wheels and that is plenty good. The bigger concern would be, do you really want a aero TT bike because if so, there is lots of better options, cheaper, more aero, more user friendly (and lighter of course but that once again is almost pointless)
I couldn’t agree more with Jonnyo.
With all components, you are probably looking in the neighbourhood of 21-22lbs. There are definitely lighter bikes, but the acceleration on the 112 and 114 is amazing. If you are doing a lot of hilly courses then you may want to consider a lighter bike, but on a flat course I believe aero is more important. And most importantly, the bike looks hot!
911, I believe that weight includes seatpost and bars.
I have a med 114 with SRAM Red. With 404’s on it, it is around 18lbs (actually a hair under). Last year I had a P3C which was definitely lighter, but not nearly as comfortable for me. The 114 feels a lot stiffer in the bb to me than the P3C did. Both are great bikes, just in different ways.
The frame and fork are 4.4lbs. That does not include the aerobars.
Damn’! You’re worse than me. Just buy the freakin’ bike ![]()
And send me some pics when you get it. Now go p.m. me with your bottom line price on your P3C.
